Frequently Asked Questions about TAB in San Antonio
Who would be in my Board?
We do not permit competitors, key vendors or major customers to be in a Board with you. Our rule for accepting a new member into a particular Board is simple. If the presence of that person would cause you to hesitate before speaking about any issue, then you can’t be in a Board together.
What kind of people are in TAB?
Most of our members have more than 10 years of ownership, and the average Board has about 200 years of business and management experience. Their skills are matched to give each Board the broadest possible expertise; with finance, marketing, sales, technology and human resources at the top of each Board’s “shopping list.”
Who are the facilitator/coaches?
Your facilitator/coach brings his or her own experience and talent to the table. All have been business owners for years. Some run their own consulting companies, others have successfully exited from their previous businesses. No theorists or corporate executives need apply. These are folks who have been in the trenches of small business and succeeded.
How long do people stay in TAB?
The membership commitment is only month to month. The average membership length is about 3 years, with a number of members having passed their 10-year anniversary.
What if I don’t like my group?
It’s unlikely, considering the effort we put into matching you with a Board that you will enjoy, but it’s happened once or twice. That’s why we have multiple Boards to work with.
How much does all this cost?
Out average member budgets between $5,000 and $7,000 a year for TAB, which includes the Board meetings, coaching, benchmarking and planning tools, and business seminars. That’s about the same as a minimum wage employee for a couple of hours each afternoon. The impact of hundreds of years of experience and a new focus on your business is priceless.
